CLINICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

Montefiore Medical Center's Division of Clinical Pathology is responsible for the laboratory testing of blood, urine, and body fluids for disease diagnosis and health maintenance. Utilizing the latest advances in computer technology, the Division maintains millions of dollars of state-of-the-art automated equipment at its laboratory sites and services hospitals, nursing homes, the Montefiore Medical Group, faculty practices, and voluntary physicians' offices at more than 40 sites. 

With minimum supervision, perform all tests within the scope and responsibility of the Reference laboratory according to the laboratory policies and procedure manual. As a Laboratory Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting the reference laboratory which is involved in submitting high volume specialize test and insuring all results file within a timely matter.

Responsibilities:
•    Perform all tests within the scope and responsibility of the Reference Laboratory according to the laboratory policies and procedure manual
•    Required to work occasionally with other departments and assist in occasional rotation in various areas when needed
•    Collect receive and prepare samples for shipment ensuring proper labeling and documentation
•    Assist as a lead to the clerical staff when needed
•    Analyze data, generating reports, maintaining detailed records, maintaining QM reports  Review all SOP's and quality logs
•    Perform all other laboratory related task under the direction of a supervisor, when required

Qualifications:
•    Position requires Associate's Degree Medical Technician
•    2 years minimum of work experience
•    New York State Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technician License required   
•    Experience with and knowledge of laboratory and clinical information systems is required
•    Working knowledge of office software required
•    Knowledge of technical aspects of clinical laboratory medicine including operate laboratory equipment, automated and laboratory equipment required
•    Familiarity with age and gender related lab tests reference ranges required

This position is located at the Moses campus in the Pathology Reference Lab. The hours are 1:30pm – 10:00pm with alternate weekends.
