CREATIVE ARTS THERAPIST LICENSE

The Creative Arts Therapy Licensed is responsible for individual and group therapy treatments using creative arts therapy techniques in music, art and/or dance in order to facilitate patient recovery on the inpatient psychiatric unit. Assesses patients and provides music therapy services and activities. Monitors and records the activity and progress of patients.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group treatment using creative arts therapy techniques in music, art and dance.
- Perform and document weekly assessments throughout patient's stay.
- The Creative Arts Therapy Specialist performs initial and weekly assessments, participates in the development of the patient's treatment plan and participates in clinical
- conferences.
- Responsible for patient centered treatment planning and implementation of therapeutic group therapy programming.
- Participate and present in clinical conferences and all medical center performance improvement activities and practices.
- Recognize, address and utilize therapeutic creative arts interventions to facilitate mastery and coping.
- Demonstrate range of creative arts techniques for support of patient during procedures.
- Manage multiple patients in a group session; assessing need for escalation of situations, and prioritizing needs of the group.
Experience:
- Masters in a Creative Art Therapy, New York State License or limited permit eligibilty to practice Creative Arts Therapy required
- Creative Arts Therapist is required to have a level of expertise in a specific creative art, such as art, music, and/or dance. Music therapy is preferred.
