The Department of Pediatrics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (AECOM)/Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) has exciting job opportunities in the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Applicants must be board eligible or board certified in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.

 

As the gateway to the only quaternary care Children’s Hospital in the Bronx, the CHAM Emergency Department serves infants, children and adolescents to age 21, providing the full range of pediatric emergency services to children of varying medical complexities from our local Bronx community and throughout the Hudson Valley. In 2019, over 51,500 patients were registered in the Pediatric Emergency Department. Approximately 5200 were admitted to CHAM, accounting for 70% of admissions to the inpatient units. There were over 8400 arrivals by ambulance in 2019.  

 

Patient care is provided by members of the Pediatric and Emergency Medicine house staff under the supervision of the 20 faculty members which includes 14 PEM board certified/eligible attendings, as well as 7 pediatric nurse practitioners. The division also includes a highly sought-after PEM fellowship which currently has 5 fellows.  PEM faculty are leaders of a variety of teaching activities within the Department and the AECOM community including: precepting clinical activities of residents and students, didactic teaching, running hands-on mock code workshops, and teaching PALS courses for the community practitioners, residents, and nurses. PEM faculty are also participating in exciting research and quality improvement initiatives.

 

Responsibilities include providing clinical care in the Pediatric Emergency Department, conducting telehealth consults to other Emergency Departments throughout the Montefiore Healthcare System in addition to supervising and teaching residents and medical students.  We are looking for candidates who possess outstanding clinical and teaching skills and have research or ultrasound experience. Successful candidates will have many opportunities to get involved in the realms of medical education, clinical research, simulation, point-of-care ultrasound, and divisional and departmental quality and safety initiatives. Academic rank at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
