To lead and manage the development, implementation and evaluation of a Nursing Research Program.

 

The Director will conduct independent nursing research with the goal of generating peer reviewed publications and presentation. The Director will establish processes to mentor nurses in the Medical Center in research, publications, grant development and management, data analysis and related activities.  

 

Additional responsibilities may include teaching, especially supervision of graduate students and administrative work where appropriate.  Promotes research knowledge for RNs at all levels, through nursing research conference planning, research workshops and informal 1:1 and group education related to nursing research, evidence-based practice.           

 

Required Education:  

Research Doctorate in Nursing (PhD) or related field (EdD) with a completed research dissertation and NYS RN License.

 

Required Experience/Skills:

Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience as a staff nurse, clinical nurse specialist, or clinical faculty.  Must be qualified for appointment with a collegiate school of nursing.

Experience in oversight and facilitation of research activities.  Expert writing skills with experience in publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Clear understanding of principles of organizational redesign, interdisciplinary collaborative practice, empowerment, mentoring, educating others and problem solving practices.  Excellent communication analytical skills and leadership needed.  Knowledge in information management and excellent computer skills.
