DOSIMETRIST III

As a member of a team of radiation oncologists, physicians, dosimetrists, therapists, nurses, residents, and other faculty and staff, the Assistant Chief Dosimetrist provides in addition to the job functions of a senior dosimetrist the following planning, educational, and administrative support:

 

  • Assists the Chief Dosimetrist in managing and training of Medical Dosimetrists and Junior Medical Physicists
  • Assists the Chief Dosimetrist in coordinating dosimetry operations to optimally achieve treatment goals shared with physicians, physicists, therapists,  and other team members
  • Assists the Chief Dosimetrist in developing, reviewing, correcting and checking treatment plans, dosimetric calculations, and patient records so that the radiation therapists can administer optimal treatments per the radiation oncologist’s intent and prescription
  • Assists the Chief Dosimetrist in overseeing and coordinating dosimetry protocols and documentation for clinical trials
  • Assists the Chief Dosimetrist in training residents (both medical & medical physics) and others in medical dosimetry; develops infrastructure of therapist and dosimetrist programs and school if called upon
  • Assists the Chief Dosimetrist in managing dosimetry databases needed for planning and overall departmental QA, teaching, and research

 

Requirements

  • B.S. in physics or closely related physical or engineering science
  • 7 years of work experience with a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in dosimetry, capable of generating treatment plans for complex IMRT and SBRT cases, electronic process management systems
  • Certification by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board and appropriate CME credits to maintain certification
  • Excellent communication, organizational, systems thinking, interpersonal relationship, and technical skills
  • Must be fully trained in the use of Aria and  Eclipse version 16 and above. Familiarity with MIM, Mobius 3D, and Radialogica is a plus.
