FINANCIAL ANALYST

Under the general direction of the Director of Finance, OBGYN and Women's Health, the Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for preparing and analyzing financial reports and dashboards for fiscal affairs and variance analysis, as well as preparing, monitoring and investigating variances in the Departmental budget and goals. The Senior Clinical Financial Analyst will be a superuser of EPIC reporting (as well as other internal software programs) in order to accurately complete custom analyses and regular management reporting on clinical and research activities, including financial, revenue cycle, clinical productivity, patient service and scheduling. Using advanced excel, the Senior Clinical Financial analyst will create reports that can be replicated efficiently. Makes recommendations on methodology and in creation of reports. Participates in the annual budgeting process for clinical revenue and staffing in coordination with the Director of Finance and Unified Administrator. Able to explain methodology to department and Institutional leadership (Chair, Administrator, Division Directors, Chief Financial Officer). Able to work independently with limited direction; able to interpret the information needs of leadership, and to generate custom and regular reports accordingly.
Responsibilities
Completes monthly and ad hoc reports
Trends data and provides a synopsis of movement for each financial and/or operational indicator
Evaluates clinical financial and operational performance data and identifies areas, divisions, or sites where performance is not meeting target
Provides analytical and operational support in the evaluation of processes and efforts that involve patient access and revenue
Reports on clinical research receipts and evaluates/tracks details of payments
Other related duties and responsibilities, as assigned
Education/Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance; Master’s Degree preferred
3 years experience
Advanced excel and extremely comfortable navigating multiple software products
Highly analytical and detailed oriented
Understanding of health care performance metrics and key operating indicators
Knowledge of statistical and financial metrics in a health care environment such as payor mix, work RVU, revenue ratios
