LABORATORY MANAGER DENTISTRY

The Department of Dentistry at Montefiore includes 100 dental chairs in 10 facilities located in the Bronx. In 2013, the Department had over 168,000 patient visits. The department is dedicated to providing comprehensive care for diseases and disorders of the mouth, jaws, teeth, and face. The location of the dental laboratory is within the dental clinic and the dental technician will work closely with Prosthodontists, Oral Surgeons, Orthodontists and General practitioners including their residents. The incumbent will take a lead role in the prosthodontic dental technology team, enhance in-house laboratory production, reduce the amount of outside laboratory works and shorten laboratory turnaround time. They will assist in maintaining the prosthodontic lab functions of analog and digital dentistry.
Job Responsibilities
1. Under the direction of the Director of Prosthodontics, performs necessary administrative tasks to manage dental laboratory business including record keeping
2. Responsible for quality control of dental restorations from the lab.
3. Makes recommendations for acquisition of capital equipment. Stays abreast with advances in technology.
4. Ensures protection of laboratory equipment and property.
5. Produces high quality dental fixed, removable and implant restorations and maxillofacial prosthesis.
6. Produces high quality ceramic and metal ceramic restorations.
7. Manages dental material inventory including precious metals.
8. Manages orders of supplies and maintains complex laboratory equipment and licenses
9. Demonstrates and teaches laboratory techniques to dental residents.
Job Requirements:
1. Minimum 5 years of dental laboratory production and supervision experience
2. Graduate of associate level dental laboratory training program
3. Certified dental technician (CDT) qualification, not mandatory but highly desirable
4. Strong Digital Design experience highly preferred
