LPN

This LPN will receive patients in the Dermatology clinic in order to ensure the effective delivery of service. This LPN will work at multiple sites when needed (Derm Center, Scarsdale, MAP).

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet and direct patients to exam room. Provide patient/family teaching and discharge instructions to meet learning/discharged needs as identified by RN.
  • Provides and maintains safe environment for patients/families through preventive and interventional measures.
  • Able to set priorities, problem solve and use proper judgment in difficult situations and be flexible in non-emergent situations.
  • Documents direct patient care as per MMC policies and procedures. Responsible and accountable for following MMC guidelines.
  • Participates, practices and promotes continuous quality improvement.
  • Communicates effectively with patients/families and members of the health care team. 
  • Sterilize instruments and equipment using the autoclave. 
  • Order and maintain medications and supplies to par level for site/s. Ensure exam rooms are appropriately, cleaned and stocked each session and between patients.
  • Collect and properly label specimens as per MMC policy. Maintain specimen(blood,biopsy) logbooks and report abnormal results to MD. 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma/GED
  • New York State License for Practical Nurse and current registration to practice as an LPN in New York State.
  • Minimum one year experience.
  • Basic Life Support.
  • Effective English communication skills, written, oral and interpersonal.
  • Ability to use basic data entry and retrieval system.
  • Additional education required by specialty areas/patient care locations. 
  • Ability to deal effectively with public and medical staff. Excellent interpersonal and telephone skills.
  • Automated clinical information system
  • Personal Computer, Telefax, Photocopier, Telephone
  • Centrifuge, EKG Machine, Sterilization process and/or Autoclave Machine where applicable.
  • Misc. Dermatology Surgical Equipment where applies.
  • Allergy Equipments where applicable.
