SUMMARY OF POSITION:

 

The LPN for the Pediatric Ambulatory Service participates in performance improvement/research activities; maintains professional practice standards and clinical expertise; and demonstrates leadership skills. The LPN Provides direct care for a specific patient population, administers medications and treatments, provides patient & family teaching and discharge instructions. The LPN demonstrates core and unit specific competencies based on the patient population served. The LPN is committed to maintaining the standards of the practice of nursing and is responsible for the delivery of care to the patients within their scope of practice. Incumbent will perform other duties as assigned. 

 

EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • New York State License for Practical Nurse and current registration to practice as an LPN in New York State.
  • Basic Life Support and Infection Control Certificate are required.
  • Additional education required by specialty areas/patient care locations. EKG’s, blood drawing and point of care.
  • Pediatric experience is preferred.
  • Effective English communication skills, written, oral and interpersonal.
  • Ability to use basic data entry and retrieval system.
  • LPN will be required to work at other Pediatric Practices locations as needed.
