The Montefiore Licensed Practice Nurse contributes standards of the practice for nursing as defined by the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice and Nursing’s Social Policy Statement.
The Licensed Practical Nurse contributes to the actualization of the vision, mission, values and philosophy and balanced score card performance measures for the Medical Center. He/she is committed to maintaining the standards of the practice of nursing and is responsible for the delivery of care to the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and/or elderly patient within their scope of practice. He/she participates in performance improvement, research activities and maintains clinical expertise.
- Esophageal motility and PH/Impedance testing and calibration, obtaining and evaluation of studies
- Ano-rectal motility studies and calibration
- Hydrogen breath testing and calibration
- Working independently
- Working with Lab Technologist as well as Motility Physician
- Assisting with Bravo capsule placement and calibration
- Smart pill testing and upload
- Studies scanned and uploaded to EPIC
- Setting up, uploading and providing analysis for all motility studies
- Obtaining Patient Consent
- Assisting with GI procedures
- Assisting with Patient intake
- Documentation in EPIC
- Teaching and Discharge
- Reporting to ANM
Qualifications:
- New York State License for Practical Nurse and current registration to practice as an LPN in New York State.
- Basic Life Support
- Effective English communication skills, written, oral and interpersonal.
- Ability to use basic data entry and retrieval system.
- Additional education required by specialty areas/patient care locations.
