MANAGER TECHNICAL INTRAOP MONITORING

The Intraoperative Neurophysiologic Monitoring (IOM) Technical Director is responsible for providing technical supervision of neurodiagnostic testing including intraoperative neurophysiologic monitoring and clinical evoked potential studies. The IOM Technical Director is responsible for personnel management of IOM technician staff, teaching staff about neurodiagnostic testing procedures, performing neurodiagnostic testing in emergency situations, quality assessment and assurance, management of equipment, supplies and computer files (including test protocols and data files), scheduling, ensuring adherence to laboratory protocols, and program advancement.
Significant experience and expertise in performing intraoperative neurophysiologic monitoring of various neurosurgical, orthopedic, vascular and ENT procedures. Ideally, this knowledge has been gained through at least 5 years of experience working in the neurodiagnostic field. Specific IOM knowledge required includes:
-Knowledge of relevant neuroanatomy and neurophysiology
-Knowledge of electrode placement techniques for correct placement of electrodes
-Ability to troubleshoot in the OR environment
-Understanding of parameters of evoked potentials relevant for neurodiagnostic analysis
-Ability to recognize artifacts during neurodiagnostic testing
-Knowledge of and ability to recognize clinically important changes in EP and EMG that require urgent attention and escalation
-Knowledge of sterile techniques and how to work safely in the OR environment
Equipment operation skills required include functional knowledge of IOM and EP related averaging systems and diagnostic equipment, ability to troubleshoot equipment hardware issues, ability to use IOM software, ability to program and adapt IOM procedures for different cases, and knowledge regarding routine equipment maintenance and up-keep.
Functional knowledge of administrative and Clinical software including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and Epic. Prior experience in a managerial role preferred.

Bachelor’s degree preferred
