MEDICAL RECORDS ANALYST

BRONX, NY, US


Under minimal supervision performs clerical duties of a fairly complex nature.  Analyzes medical records for completeness, reviews and abstracts data in response to requests for patient medical record information and for statistical and clinical databases.  Monitors Physician and other provider compliance with TJC, CMS and DOH Standards and Regulations.  Performs research and required follow up to obtain, track and clarify missing, incomplete or questionable patient information.  Interacts with Risk Management, Legal and FOJP to process cases in response to Notice of Claim or Court Orders.  Secures records as appropriate.  Reviews medical records for response to requests for information from attorneys, insurance companies, providers, government agencies, patients.  Operates in a high volume customer service environment.  Processes OP encounters for billing, code outpatient diagnoses and procedures using ICD and CPT classifications as necessary. 
 
Performs other complex clerical duties such as customer service, disability claims etc.

 

Education/Skills:

 

High school diploma or general equivalent.  Certificate in medical terminology OR documented completion of a course in Medical Terminology required.  Certificate in HIM processing preferred.  Demonstrated skills in typing and data entry.  Demonstrated knowledge of computer applications in a windows environment.  Ability to read and understand medical record data.  Familiarity with physician notations and medical record content.  Knowledge of Federal, State, and TJC privacy and security regulations governing confidentiality of patient health information.  Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
