The Nurse Educator maintains standards of the practice for nursing as defined by the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice and Nursing’s Social Policy Statement.

 

The Nurse Educator actualizes the vision, mission, values, balanced scorecard performance measures for Montefiore medical Center.

 

The Nurse Educator participates in performance improvement/research activities; maintains professional practice standards and clinical expertise; and demonstrates leadership skills. The Nurse Educator demonstrates core and unit specific competencies based on the patient population served.

 

The Nurse Educator is a health care practitioner who is primarily responsible for the systematic process of assessment, development and evaluation to enhance the continued competence and performance/ professional development of the staff at the Wakefield Campus of Montefiore Medical Center. A major component of their responsibilities is to provide educational services to the Nursing Department. Nurse Educators are responsible for ensuring compliance with educational/regulatory requirement.

 

 

 

Qualifications

Current New York State professional nurse license required.

Masters degree in nursing or the equivalent.

Three years of active nursing experience and one year of relevant teaching experience.

Must be certified in OB related competency, examples: Inpatient OB, Fetal Monitoring, or  Maternal Newborn Nursing
