NURSE PRACTITIONER

The Montefiore Pediatric or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP or PNP) for Neurosurgery maintain standards of practice for nursing as defined by the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice and Nursing’s Social Policy Statement. The NP actualizes the vision, mission, values, and balanced scorecard performance measures for Montefiore Medical Center.
   
The Nurse Practitioner is a Board-Certified practitioner who is responsible for the care, coordination, and management of pediatric neurosurgical patients in a large academic setting. The NP will join our team of Pediatric Neurosurgeons to treat patients across the spectrum of neurosurgical conditions/ disorders.  The successful candidate must be able to thrive in a fast paced, complex academic medical environment where the NP works as a valued member of the multidisciplinary team.
 
 
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
 

Working collaboratively with the care team to develop individualized plans for care of patients largely in an outpatient clinic setting.
Support inpatient rounding post-surgery as needed.
Serve as a resource and educator for the pediatric patient, their family and other healthcare members, coordinating all care needs and communicating plans effectively.
The NP may participate in research activities and quality improvement initiatives conducted in collaboration with other pediatric health care team members.
 
 
Education/ Skills required:
 

New York State License for a Registered Professional Nurse and current registration or valid permit to practice in New York State as an RN
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN)
New York State License as a Registered Nurse and Pediatric or Family Nurse Practitioner
Possess current certification by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) or the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
Possess and maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
At least three (3) years of experience working with pediatric patients as an RN, PNP or FNP.
Must be self-motivated, goal oriented, and able to work independently. Must have the ability to develop relationships and work collaboratively and effectively in partnership with patients, families, physicians, clinical staff, hospital departments, community, and outside organizations.
Must have excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage and follow through on multiple priorities.
Excellent critical thinking, analysis, and assessment skills for successful process improvement planning and monitoring.
