A member of the professional health care team qualified by academic training and working under the supervision of a physician.  Responsible for providing medical treatment to patients performing physical examinations, diagnosing illness, prescribing medication, developing, and carrying out treatment plans, ordering and interpreting lab tests, providing preventive health care counseling, and arranging for appropriate medical follow up after patient discharge as indicated. 
Must be available to work and cover in other DoSA clinics as needed.


•    Manage daily medical needs of patients, including admission medical history and physical examinations and follow up of medical needs
•    Provide clinical services to ensure quality of care and implementation of policies, procedures, rules, regulations, as established by the hospital and regulatory agencies
•    Required to follow standard medical practices and approved treatment protocols developed by Montefiore Medical Center and all monitoring agencies (i.e., Joint Commission, OMH)
•    Will be supervised by a physician
•    Will write his/her own prescriptions/physician's orders according to MMC Policy and NY State guidelines
•    Support staff education through participation in Director's Rounds, Departmental Grand Rounds, and meeting CME requirements
•    Perform duties and responsibilities with deep commitment to human dignity, respect and basic human rights and expands this commitment to all working relationships with patients, visitors, and fellow employees
•    Participate, as required, in all Medical Center performance improvement activities and practice principles of Continuous Quality Improvement in daily work assignment
•    Provide care appropriate to the age-specific needs of the patients served.  This includes an understanding of the principles of individual growth and development over a lifespan, the ability to interpret data relevant to the patient's age-specific needs and the application of this knowledge in accordance with those needs
•    Differentially diagnose medical conditions and treatment of these conditions


•    New York State License for a Registered Professional Nurse and current registration or valid permit to practice in New York State as an RN required
•    Master's or post Master's Certificate in specialty as a nurse practitioner preferred, or a
combination of education and experience that is acceptable to N.Y. State Education Department and the Director of Nursing and/or Chairman of the Department, or Division Director. Current New York State Nurse Practitioner specialty certification and registration in Adult Health, Current DEA certificate, Current DATA 2000/DEAX waiver required
•    Required - Current New York State Nurse Practitioner specialty certification and registration in:  
- Adult Health
- Current DEA certificate
- Current DEAX waiver, or willingness to obtain one within 6 months of appointment.
•    Nurse Practitioner Adult Health required
•    Must be fluent in the use of Electronic Health Records, general office equipment, and physician ordering systems used by the medical Center
•    Working knowledge of medical conditions seen in adults across the developmental spectrum; knowledge of dementia

The standard hours are 6:30am – 3:00pm and must be available to work and cover in other DoSA clinics as needed.
