PEDIATRIC NEPHROLOGIST

The Division of Pediatric Nephrology at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor Physician Scientist for a research track position to join our growing division that includes 6 physician faculty members. We welcome applications from Basic, Translational or Clinical Science investigators. Einstein/Montefiore has history of successful mentorship of K awardees with transition to R01 funding with multiple R01 funded mentors for interested applicants. The position will provide protected research time. Clinical Responsibilities will include providing pediatric nephrology ambulatory care to children and adolescents in addition to inpatient coverage, supervision and teaching of residents and medical students.

 

The ideal candidate will be board certified/board eligible in Pediatric Nephrology, possess outstanding clinical skills, have demonstrated scholarship and an ongoing commitment to research. The successful candidate will receive an academic appointment at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.

 

About the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM)

CHAM is a 192-bed nationally renowned academic children’s hospital providing inpatient, ambulatory, and emergency care for children and adolescents. CHAM is the pediatric hospital of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and is part of the Montefiore Health System spanning the Bronx and Westchester counties in New York.

 

About the Jack D. Weiler Hospital Montefiore Wakefield Campus

The Jack D. Weiler Hospital is a 403-bed hospital and a Perinatal Regional Center with a level 4 NICU that delivers about 3300 infants per year. The Montefiore Wakefield Campus includes a 234-bed hospital with a level 3 NICU that delivers about 1200 infants per year.

 

About the Division of Pediatric Nephrology

The Division of Pediatric Nephrology includes attending physicians, a nurse practitioner, research nurse, renal nutritionist, dedicated pediatric dialysis nurses, psychologist, dialysis and transplant social workers and administrative staff. We provide acute and chronic kidney replacement therapy services, and our kidney transplant program performs an average of 10 transplants per year. Our center is the only facility in the greater New York Metropolitan area approved exclusively for the care of children with end stage kidney disease. The outpatient Pediatric Nephrology Diagnostic Service at CHAM is a major Pediatric Nephrology referral center for the Bronx, lower Westchester County, located in CHAM. More than 1,400 new patients are seen yearly with kidney disorders ranging from hematuria, proteinuria, hypertension, urinary tract infections, congenital genitourinary tract abnormalities, acute glomerulonephritis, chronic kidney disease, and various other conditions including transplantation. Division faculty are actively engaged in medical education, quality improvement and research. The Division is actively involved in multiple National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded collaborative studies.  The Pediatric Nephrology has a long history of collaboration on research and educational activities with internal Nephrology & other investigators. Research resources include the Montefiore/Einstein Harold and Muriel Block Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR), and there are opportunities to obtain a Master of Science (M.S.) in Clinical Research Methods via the Clinical Research Training Program (CRTP). We have an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship program and have held an NIH supported Training Program for almost 50 years.

 

In addition to a competitive salary of $160,000-$200,000 commensurate with academic rank, we offer the opportunity to enhance compensation with research and clinical productivity incentives and bonuses.
