Associates are eligible to apply for a lateral transfer after completion of one (1) year of service in their present position, with the following exception: an Associate who has received a written warning is not eligible for a transfer/promotion prior to six (6) months from date of issuance; an Associate who has been suspended is not eligible for transfer/promotion prior to one (1) year from date of suspension. Part-time Associates who have completed their probationary period can move to full-time vacancies within their department provided such movement will not unreasonably reduce the operational efficiency of that department. Probationary period is three (3) months for full-time employees, and four (4) months for part-time employees who works more than 3/5 of the normal workweek.

 

 

We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our team of Speech-Language Pathologists at Montefiore Medical Center as a Per Diem Speech-Language Pathologist . To qualify, the candidate must have a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Certification by the American Speech and Hearing Association (CCC-SLP), and a current New York State license in Speech Language Pathology and at minimum one year of related experience. The candidate must hold the following skills:

 

  • Independent in evaluation and treatment of adult and pediatric patients with speech, language, cognitive, voice and swallowing disorders on an inpatient and outpatient basis
  • Experience with the highest acuity conditions while caring for the swallowing and communication needs of medically complex and critically ill patients in the intensive care units as well as on acute care floors.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills to convey recommendations and provide education and in-services to the interdisciplinary team.
  • Proficient in conducting Modified Barium Swallow studies in coordination with Radiology as well as trained in performing, interpreting and applying results from Fiberoptic Evaluation of Swallow Studies (FEES)
  • Knowledgeable about head and neck cancer, alaryngeal speech, cranio-facial abnormalities, tracheostomized patients and use of Passy Muir Speaking Valves.
  • Fluency in another language is ideal.
  • Flexible schedule inclusive of weekends and holiday coverage
