PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT

Reporting directly to the Director of Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) Service, and indirectly to the Division Chief of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology , this position, in collaboration with physicians and other health care providers, will be responsible for the planning, evaluation, coordination, implementation and facilitation of all facets of care for pediatric patients and families undergoing the process of blood and/or marrow transplantation. Demonstrates advanced and diverse clinical knowledge and skills in the capacity of a clinician, educator, collaborator and patient advocate in order to provide both direct and indirect patient care in a semi-autonomous, self directed role in accordance with professional practice standards and clinical expertise. Will provide direct patient care in an in-patient and out-patient setting. Effective English communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to effectively use data entry and retrieval system
Licenses,Registrations/ Certifications/ Education
NYS PA license and Registration
A health care professional with either one of the following certifications:
Current NYS NP specialty certification and registration
Current Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician’s Assistants
Current American Board of Transplant Coordinators Certification after one year of practical experience preferred
With either one of the following degree of education:
Graduate of NLN accredited (or equivalent) school of nursing required
B.S required or comparable experience
Masters in Business/Health Care preferred
With the following experience:
Three years of clinical experience in a highly specialized complex care program preferred.
Transplant pt. experience pref.
