PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT PER DIEM

BRONX, NY, US


POSITION SUMMARY: 

Under the general supervision of the Senior PA and the Medical Direcotr of the ED, the ED PA will evaluate and treat patients with Medical and Surgical problems; and other related duties. In the absence of the Senior PA and/or the Medical Director the ED PA will be supervised by the approproate Attending Physician in the Emergency Department. 

 

The practice of a physician assistant shall include medical services within the education, training and experience of the physician assistant that are delegated by the supervising physician. 

 

Medical services rendered by physician assistants may include, but are not limited to, obtaining patient histories and performing physical examinations; ordering and/or performing diagnostic and therapuetic procedures; formulating a diagnosis; developing and implementing a treatment plan; monitoring the effectiveness of therapuetic interventions; assisting at surgery; offering counseling and education to meet patient needs; making appropriate referrals. Physician Assistants, in an emergency, for these purposes, is defined as a situation in which any delay in administering treatment would resut in serious harm to the patient or an immediate threat to life of the patient and the patient's physician not immediatley available. 

 

The activities listed above may be performed in any setting authorized by the supervising phsician, including but not limited to, clinics, hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, patient homes, nursing homes, and other instituion settings. 

 

In addition to the core skills listed here, PAs will requst calidation to perform department specific skills. 

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduate of an AMA accredited Physician's Assistant program 
  • Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician's Assistants (NCCPA Certified) 
  • Licenses from New York State Department of Education 
  • Registered as a Physician's Assistant in New York State. 
  • BLS, ACLS, ATLS & PALS Certification (or eligibility) within 1 year of hire.
