SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Adolescent Medicine Psychologist Description
The Division of Adolescent Medicine, Department of Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore is seeking a licensed psychologist to join our multi-disciplinary team in our growing ambulatory specialty programs.
The psychologist will be joining our gender health program team that cares for gender questioning, gender fluid and transgender adolescents.
Another role for the psychologist includes evaluation, diagnosis and treatment for adolescents identified with mental health concerns often seen in adolescents including depression, anxiety, PTSD, somatoform disorder, conversion disorder, among others in our Adolescent Gynecology and Specialty Practice. Other patients that may be referred to the psychologist would be those involved with behaviors such as substance use.
The clinical team currently consists of board-certified Adolescent Medicine attending physicians, board-certified Pediatric Infectious Disease physician, post-doctoral fellows in Adolescent Medicine and a social worker.
The position includes teaching of trainees and students, as well as research and advocacy opportunities.
Qualifications
Must be a Psychologist (PhD/PsyD) with a valid NYS license.
The candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to address clinical problems from a family and sociocultural perspective.
Must be comfortable working with all age groups from pediatric to geriatric in a clinical setting.
Sensitivity and skills to work with underserved populations is a must.
