REVENUE CYCLE SPECIALIST

The Revenue Cycle Specialist Reports to Revenue Cycle Manager within the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Women’s Health. The Specialist will accurately code office and hospital procedures for providers to ensure proper reimbursement for surgical and other specialized complex procedures. 

 

Job Responsibilities

Complete accurate coding

Compliant documentation and coding of medical care for billing, reviews, analyzes and assures the final diagnoses and procedure codes as stated by the practicing providers

Abstracts surgical and obstetrical delivery documentation and applies accurate CPT codes

Ensure proper completion of documentation from the EMR and proper assignment of ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS and CPT codes

Works charge review work queues

Conducts auditing and monitoring of compliance related activities within the department.  

Communicates and teaches providers and clinical staff to document accurately

Maintains current knowledge of changes to coding requirements and communicates to providers and staff as appropriate

 

Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED

Bachelor's degree preferred

CCS-P, CCS, or CPC certification 
3 years’ experience of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding (or other applicable successor coding systems) in a multi-specialty physician or Outpatient facility environment

OBGYN coding experience preferred

Strong knowledge of documentation requirements, National Correct Coding Initiative edits, LCD and physician/outpatient hospital billing requirements including reimbursement methodologies
