SAFETY SPECIALIST

Under the direction of the Director, the Safety Specialist is responsible for hazardous waste pickups, classification, and segregation of hazardous materials and chemicals. Assists to implement and maintain safety, hazardous material, and waste as well as radiation safety program. Assists to establish, implement and maintain written policies and procedures regarding radiation safety, lab safety, and hazardous materials and waste management. Assists the Director of Environmental Health and Safety to ensure the hospitals are in compliance with regulatory agency requirements with regard to radiation safety, lab safety, safety, fire safety, life safety, hazardous materials, and waste management.
Required:
Associate's degree; Bachelor's degree preferred
EPA training within 90 days of hire
Prior experience with hazardous materials and waste is required.
Experience in the healthcare field or laboratory setting
