SENIOR MANAGER CREDENTIALING

The Senior Manager for Credentialing and Faculty Affairs for the Department of Medicine (DOM) and affiliated entities (i.e. MEAC, NYGI)oversees the credentialing, re-credentialing, on-boarding processes for all faculty and providers (i.e. NPs, Psychologists, PAs) across the Department of Medicine. Individual is also responsible for outlining the optimal strategy for faculty recruitment and use of external resources to expeditiously obtain referrals to fill these key roles. The individual is responsible for overseeing initial credentialing and initial appointments activities in the central DOM administrative office, and to facilitate and oversee the re-credentialing and promotions activities that are initiated at the division level across all 15 divisions in coordination with Divisional Administrators and Chiefs. Responsible for overseeing the credentialing of physicians and other allied health personnel for all CMO non-delegated, delegated and contracted plans.  Responsible for all activities related to quality management and re-appointments for all providers with appointments in a timely manner.  Work with the vice chair for faculty affairs, clinical affairs, research and division chiefs to facilitate all faculty appointments and re-appointments at the college for DOM faculty. Responsible for providing administrative support to DOM A&P committee.  Responsible for developing centralized tools for faculty onboarding, including provider orientation and education/facilitation of the faculty promotions process.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Manage the credentialing process for the Department of Medicine including all ambulatory and inpatient campuses (Moses, Weiler, Wakefield and Westchester Square) and all providers (physicians and allied health personnel) with a primary appointments in Medicine across the central office and across all 15 divisions .
  • Serve as the liaison between the providers and the CMO regarding all credentialing issues (ie, status changes, recredentialing, QM files, special plans etc)
  • Manage the new provider (MD and allied health personnel) on-boarding process, including not only credentialing but also systems access, billing and scheduling processes.  Liaison with HR regarding any visa issues. Proactively manage the Medicaid tape agreement process.
  • Work with the Vice Chair and Division Chiefs to manage procedural credentialing (DOPs), and evaluations, voluntary credentialing (courtesy and active) and voluntary credentialing for the teaching clinics (risk management exemption)  manage tracking system for packets.
  • Manage the expireables, recredentialing and QM process for all Medicine providers., Collect required documents (DEA, CME, boards, licenses etc), Manage tracking system for packets. Manage database to verify procedure numbers (ie GI, pulmonary, etc).
  • Serve as liaison to CMO,  Risk Management and insurance plans for providers to facilitate information exchange, improve communications, ensure malpractice coverage.  Manage database to ensure timely completion of change of status paperwork and related items.
  • Manage the credentialing process and files in a manner that complies with all relevant Montefiore policies as well as State laws, medical plan regulations and external credentialing agencies (JCAHO). Enforces safeguards for confidential information.  
  • Manage the special plans process (ie CME, Board requirements).  Proactively monitor, track and follow-up on outstanding credentialing issues with providers and CMO. 
  • Hire, train, mentor, discipline and fire credentialing and faculty affairs support staff.
  • Provide support to Vice Chair for Faculty affairs in the initial appointment and promotion process for departmental candidates.
  • Work closely with Vice Chair for faculty affairs and department leadership with respect to additional tasks that fall under the purview of faculty affairs as deemed by the departmental leadership.
  • Work with Department Leadership and CMO to streamline credentialing process across DOM providers to improve time from hire to contract enrollment/billing.
  • Lead centralized faculty orientation and onboarding activities and education on promotions process.
  • Develop needs assessment and annual strategy for recruitment across divisions, including overseeing work for advertising most critical faculty positions and working with faculty recruitment team to prioritize referrals for these positions.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of management, credentialing and faculty affairs experience
  • Effective time management necessary to organize, develop and direct personnel.
  • Quantitative and qualitative analytical skills necessary for problem-solving.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent teamwork and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, proactively solve complex problems and manage projects within deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to collect/organize documents from various sources and present them in a consistent manner
  • Strong leadership/management skillset, and experience with navigating matrixed environments and getting things done through influence.
