SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

Montefiore is seeking a motivated and team-oriented individual to support oversight and drive integration of a robust compliance program across the day-to-day activities of a large healthcare organization. The Compliance Privacy Manager will, among other duties, collaborate with the Privacy Team to implement improvement initiatives and perform outreach to reinforce best practices among staff, while supporting and participating in existing investigative processes.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Specific responsibilities include: 

 

  • Working hand-in-hand with Compliance team and Executive leadership to develop the steps and processes to cultivate a culture of compliance.
  • Facilitating best practices in the organization by being informed of current compliance-related legislation and enforcement issues affecting the healthcare industry and sharing current information with organizational shareholders.
  • Preparing annual Work Plans.
  • Under the supervision of the Deputy Privacy Officer, developing, reviewing and revising Policies and Procedures of the Health System in accordance with Federal and State regulations.
  • Reviewing federal regulations and postings from HHS, CMS, and various other federal agencies. and sharing current information with organizational shareholders.
  • Performing statistical audits of incidents and investigations in accordance with the CAP
  • Performing Systems Activity Reviews for sunsetting legacy system applications.
  • Performing audits in collaboration with the IT Security Team to assure compliance with HIPAA Regulations.
  • Performing Quarterly and Annual HIPAA Training Audits.
  • Performing Semiannual and Annual ROI audits for all members of the Health System
  • Auditing Health System compliance with HIPAA Privacy and Security regulations in collaboration with HIM.
  • Preparing summary reports of audit findings.
  • Reviewing Business Associate Agreements (BAA) from vendors for compliance with Policies & Procedures, Federal and State regulations. 
  • Conducting Annual Privacy Risk Assessments for the Health System.

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare-related field, Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Law or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
  • Possess a minimum of seven years’ experience in the healthcare industry.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and advise management on compliance/healthcare matters, to develop practical business solutions, and to facilitate risk assessment.
  • In-depth Knowledge of relevant state and federal statutes including HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules.
  • CHC, CHPC, CIPP or comparable Healthcare Compliance certification.
  • Knowledge of relevant state and federal statutes including HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple requests with frequently conflicting priorities.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Windows desktop operating systems across computing platforms (e.g., laptops, tablets, and desktop computers).
