The Department of Family and Social Medicine (Behavioral Science Unit) and Department of Psychiatry seek a full-time NYS licensed psychologists (PhD/PsyD) to join their team. This Senior Psychosocial Faculty position is ideal for those candidates interested in nurturing their skills in teaching as well as clinical care. This exciting and rewarding opportunity will allow the successful candidate to develop and coordinate the implementation of a behavioral science curriculum for the Primary Care Social Internal Medicine Residency Program, or the Social Pediatrics Residency Program with some teaching opportunities in the Residency Program in Family Medicine. The candidate will also have the opportunity to conduct diagnostic intake evaluations and provide psychotherapy to children and adolescents and/or adults via the Department of Psychiatry’s Montefiore-Einstein Psychiatry Associates (MEPA), a multidisciplinary outpatient behavioral health faculty group practice serving patients in the greater NYC area including Westchester (http://www.MEPANow.com). The faculty member will promote the quality social justice focused medical education of pediatric, family medicine and/or internal medicine residents and faculty by integrating a socio-culturally responsive, psychosocial, and behavioral health perspective in their clinical and educational activities. The faculty member may also assist in the development and implementation of teaching in the Primary Care Family Psychology Externship program and may have opportunities to provide supervision. As well there are opportunities for research, program development, and quality improvement initiatives for the Department of Psychiatry.
Required Education/Skills:
• Licensed or license-eligible as a psychologist in NY State
• PhD or PsyD in Psychology from an APA/PCSAS-accredited graduate program
• Clinical and teaching experiences in medical settings
• Demonstrated expertise in teaching psychosocial concepts in pediatric, adult, geriatric, or family medicine areas
• Expertise on the clinical management of mental health problems (particularly as they are presented in primary care practices)
Skills and experience in some of the following areas is preferred:
• Child, adolescent, and adult developmental issues
• Approaches to health promotion and behavioral health change
• Sociocultural humility and responsive care/ sociocultural competence and social justice
• Educational methods in medicine and psychology training
• Formal training at the graduate or postdoctoral level in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Family System Theory, mind-body techniques, and/or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
• Familiarity with medical practices and models of behavioral health /primary care integration as they pertain to care of children, adolescents, and adults across the life span, and in primary care
• Using routine, empirically based outcome measures
• Using telehealth
• Providing therapy with children and adolescents and/or adults
• Treating individuals with mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD, and/or eating disorders
Pay range: $97,500-130,000
