The Montefiore Medical Center’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and the Department of Social Services are seeking a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) for an exciting full-time Senior Social Worker Position based in the Moses Campus at the Psychiatric Observation Suite (POS). This associate will ensure timely assessments and dispositions for patients in psychiatric crisis that present in the Emergency Department.  The senior social worker will provide clinical supervision and training to the social work staff, as well as administrative support to the medical director, assistant director and clinical director. They will facilitate inpatient admissions for patients acutely in danger and coordinate the appropriate outpatient referrals for those who are deemed safe to return home.


Candidate Requirements:

  • Candidate must have LCSW in the State of New York
  • Five years practice experience as MSW Social Worker with at least two (2) years of those years as a Montefiore MSW.
  • 2+ years’ experience working in an acute psychiatric setting (inpatient, CPEP, or emergency room psychiatry) in a social worker or senior social work role


The ideal candidate:

  • Bi-lingual Spanish speaking proficiency (preferred, not required)
  • Knowledgeable of community resources for mental health, substance use disorders, intellectual disability and autism, and neuro-cognitive decline
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal and documental skills
