SR MANAGER PUBLIC RELATIONS

BRONX, NY, US


Montefiore is looking for a Manager/Senior Manager to join its Department of Media & Public Relations

This position plays a key role in developing and implementing media relations programs to secure high quality news stories that promote priority clinical areas and speak to Montefiore’s mission of advancing the health of the communities we serve. Ideal candidates have 5+ years of PR and/or healthcare communication experience, have a passion for story-telling, a knack for forming and maintaining relationships with colleagues and reporters, are expert multitaskers, and above all, are team players with a positive, can-do attitude.

This job reports to the AVP of Strategic Communications & Media Relations.

 

Topline responsibilities include –

  • Securing high-profile media features that build the national and local profile of MHS {includes identifying patient stories, consenting patients, participating in media training sessions with Montefiore/Einstein spokespeople, etc.}
  • Enhancing Montefiore brand by writing and disseminating press releases and media pitches that breakdown complex scientific advances to stories will resonate with the general population
  • Securing press interviews focused on our research, clinical innovations and mission-driven community efforts
  • Identifying new opportunities to craft communications based on new Montefiore-Einstein research & translate complex research findings into stories that resonate
  • Cultivating relationships with media and serving as trusted source of information for stories and breaking news
  • Developing key messages and talking points; source supporting data to use when preparing spokespeople for media interviews
  • Partnering with patients to ensure comfort in sharing their story with the press
  • Providing feedback, constructive criticism and suggestions for improvement to experts, post-interviews
  • Collaborating with colleagues in marketing, development and affiliate institutions to support and enhance communications
  • Rotate through the department’s on-call schedule for urgent matters on evenings/weekends

 

Qualifications –

  • BA/BS from accredited college or university. 
  • Excellent communicator both in writing and in person
  • 5+ years of PR and/or healthcare communication experience
  • Able to synthesize complex information into meaningful communication through a writing test
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated sense of judgment
  • Healthcare experience a plus
  • Ability to meet deadlines
