STAFF NURSE I/II

The Staff Nurse functions as part of the clinic leadership team, performs task and carries out responsibilities within the framework of health teaching, health counseling and supportive / restorative care. These duties are performed under the supervision of the Head Nurse / staff. The Staff Nurse will be required to perform the duties listed below and other duties involving the same type, area and degree of responsibility.

 

Responsibilities:
•    Pursuant to objectives and policies of the Program, provides nursing care / activities as assigned by Head Nurse / designee, and in support of medical care as directed by the Physician
•    Assume all responsibilities of RN / LPN as outlined in each job description
•    Demonstrate accountability to care, plan, and coordinate to ensure that continuity is provided
•    Dispense and administer prescribed medication and treatment and observe patients for any reaction to medication
•    Record and report significant patient incidents / problems to Head Nurse Administrator, Chief Physician
•    Knowledge of the principles of confidentiality of patient information
•    Develop effective communications within the clinical units
•    Conduct and participate in patient educational activities
•    Maintain all pertinent clinical records
•    May be assigned rotation to other program sites
•    Clinic activities may vary depending on clinic needs and activities

 

Qualifications:
•    Must have New York State license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse or valid permit to practice in New York State
•    High School Diploma / GED required, BSN Degree preferred
•    Basic Life Support training
•    Infection Control training
•    Certification in specialty preferred
•    Effective English communication skills, both written and oral
•    Ability to use basic data entry and retrieval systems 

 

The hours for this position are 10:00am-6:30pm Mon-Fri and 6:30am-3pm on alternating Saturdays. This is a float position and requires flexibility to work at all Wellness Center locations and various shifts as needed.
