Associates are eligible to apply for a transfer after completion of one (1) year of service in their present position, with the following exception: an Associate who has received a written warning is not eligible for a transfer/promotion prior to six (6) months from date of issuance; an Associate who has been suspended is not eligible for transfer/promotion prior to one (1) year from date of suspension. Probationary period is four (4) months for full-time employees, and six (6) months for part-time employees.

 

 

The Stroke RN maintains and fulfills standards of the practice for nursing as defined by the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice and Nursing Social Policy Statement. The RN will assist the Stroke faculty with direct patient care, education, and performance improvement/ research activities.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinates an interdisciplinary plan of care
  • Triage patient phone calls, to determine urgency of call and or next steps
  • Assist faculty with obtaining pre-authorizations
  • Arrange for peer to peer reviews with insurance companies for rejected medications and imaging requests
  • Assesses and interprets data relative to the age status of the patient; differentiate between normal age related parameters and abnormal parameters
  • Develops, Implements, and modifies plan of care consistent with the patients age, sensory/psychomotor deficits, and spiritual and physiological needs
  • Provide health education (stroke symptom recognition, stroke risk reduction, medication adherence, etc.)
  • Place cardiac rhythm monitoring devices

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Required
  • New York State License for Registered Professional Nurse and current registration or valid permit to practice in New York State as an RN
  • 5 year’s work experience
  • One year of cerebrovascular or cardiovascular experience in an outpatient or inpatient setting
  • Good working knowledge of EPIC
