As a professional member of an interdisciplinary team, the Research Staff Nurse I/II will be responsible for a cohort of research volunteers and conducting the following: outreach and education to potential study participants, the informed consent process, patient interviews and surveys per protocol-defined study visits as well as guiding health-care providers and research staff on protocol-required follow-up, adverse event assessment and reporting, taking vital signs, obtaining study specimens including by phlebotomy and other methods, and administration of investigational product by oral, parenteral or other routes per protocol.  This role will serve as an active member in team meetings, protocol flow improvement and QI/QA as well as document all study activities accurately and in a timely way per protocols and GCP/FDA/ICH/NIH standards. This unit operates primarily at the Moses Campus of Montefiore; some activities may occur at the Einstein Campus of Montefiore, at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and at other locations in the tri-state New York City region



·         Perform study-related duties across multiple research protocols

·         Required to perform phlebotomy, electrocardiograms, obtain and monitor vital signs, and other clinical duties within the full scope of nursing practice

·         Provide safe patient care to study participants at the main CTU outpatient site, as well as at other locations, including inpatient departments where CTU study                           participants are receiving care

·         Serve as the Primary Clinical Research Nurse on study-start up teams to ensure protocols are activated and executed according to Good Clinical Practices, regulatory            requirements, and grant agency guidelines

·         Assist other research staff with specimen collection, specimen preparation, and shipping

·         Coordinate with pharmacy to ensure study drug is on site and to develop workflows for investigational product administration

·         Collect and enter study-related data into Epic and study-specific electronic data captures

·         Confirm all study-specific clinic supplies are ordered and on site per study protocols

·         Assist with creating and managing Epic smart-phrase templates for consenting process and each study visit per initial protocol and any subsequent amendments

·         Educate and assist study participants with carrying out study-related activities, including, but not limited to, diaries, monitoring devices, telehealth visits, etc.

·         Attends site initiation visits, team huddles, and other meetings as required

·         Administration of investigational product by IM/IV/SC/PO route

·         Data extraction/collection/input, triaging study subject-reported complaints and symptoms/signs (in person, by phone, by electronic capture) per protocols and nursing               standards.

·         Work to improve study subject adherence and retention to protocol procedures and follow-up

·         Maintains professional practice standards and clinical expertise; and demonstrates leadership skills

·         Other duties as assigned
