Operates, monitors and maintains high pressure boilers and ancillary equipment. Assists in the preventive maintenance and repair program. Supervises and trains lower level maintenance staff as required. Under general supervision; performs the operation and maintenance of boilers and related power plant equipment such as steam engines, air compressors and engines to provide steam, electric power and auxiliary services.  Inspects and performs maintenance & repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration equipment, boilers and engines.  Performs related duties as required.

HS Diploma or GED required



NYS Stationary Engineer License

• COQ – Refrigeration Engineer (Q01)

• Supervision of Piped Non-Flammable Medical Gases (G71)

• Torch use of Flammable Gasses (G60)

• City Wide Sprinkler Systems (S12)

• Fire Guard for Torch Operations (F60)

• City Wide Standpipe Systems (S13)


ARP Program:

  • This program is only for associates who refer experienced full time Stationary Engineers for the Engineering Department at Wakefield.
  • $2,500 to be paid out upon completion of the new associate’s probationary period.
  • Associate Referral Program is open to Montefiore Medical Center associates as outlined in HR Policy ll-4b. The program will run from August 31, 2020 thru December 31, 2020.

Locate a Stationary Engineer posting and use the “Refer a Friend” option via the Talent Management System.  All referrals must have a current resume attached at the time of referral and will be tracked via the Talent Management System.
