Associates are eligible to apply for a lateral transfer after completion of one (1) year of service in their present position, with the following exception: an Associate who has received a written warning is not eligible for a transfer/promotion prior to six (6) months from date of issuance; an Associate who has been suspended is not eligible for transfer/promotion prior to one (1) year from date of suspension. Part-time Associates who have completed their probationary period can move to full-time vacancies within their department provided such movement will not unreasonably reduce the operational efficiency of that department. Probationary period is three (3) months for full-time employees, and four (4) months for part-time employees who works more than 3/5 of the normal workweek.

 

 

Under the direction of the Radiologist in charge of ultrasound and supervisor of ultrasound, performs a variety of ultrasound examinations at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail.  Uses independent judgement and initiative to apply prescribed scanning protocols for purposes of medical diagnosis.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Perform to completion sonograms of indicated anatomical areas using available modalities following prescribed protocols.
Utilize correct patient positioning based on patient body habitus and exam requirements.
Prepare a preliminary written impression of the completed sonogram. Interview patients for identification, patient education and detailed clinical history.
Maintain adherence to the imaging workflow in EPIC and GE PACS. Includes tracking exams in EPIC throughout all the steps in process, verifying images in PACS to insure patient exam types, labeling and orientation are correct.
Maintain quality patient care (eg. IV pump operation, oxygen delivery, patient modesty, etc.)
Clean and maintain ultrasound equipment between procedures.
Monitor and maintain performance of all equipment.
Safe handling and security of ultrasound equipment.
Maintain patient record exam verification in EPIC and PACS.
Correlation of x-ray, lab results, and other clinical data.
Train new associates, Radiology residents, medical students and ultrasound students in Ultrasound procedures.
 

REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma/GED
Graduation from an accredited Diagnostic Ultrasound Program 
Registered Specialty with the ARDMS in Breast and/or OBGYN Requires 30 CE credits per three year rolling triennium to maintain active ARDMS status.
Knowledge/ability to operate diagnostic ultrasound units capable of B Mode, M Mode, color and pulse wave Doppler and 3D imaging.
Ability to utilize EPIC medical information system.
Ability to utilize GE PACS.
Ability to utilize Trophon disinfection systems.
Workstation/PC operational knowledge.
