Obstetrical Technicians function as members of a team dedicated to support the highest quality care and service to our patients, physicians and other associates. As an integral part of the team the Obstetrical Technician is responsible to scrub for and assist in various types of surgical procedures and provides the necessary instrumentation, supplies and equipment for operations. The Obstetrical Technician assists in nursing care activities under the direction of the Registered Nurse.



High School graduate or equivalent

Has completed training by one of the following pathways:

Successful completion of nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologists

Successful completion of an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard or Public Health Service Commissioned Corps

Holds and maintains a certified surgical technologist credential administered by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization.

A new graduate of a nationally accredited or military training program for surgical technologist must provide documentation of having obtained certification as a surgical technologist by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization by the end of the twelve months of employment.
