ASSISTANT CHIEF PHYSICAL THERAPY

JOB SUMMARY:

 

The Assistant Chief Physical Therapist will work as part of a multidisciplinary team (Physicians, Physician Assistants, Athletic Trainers) to provide the highest quality care to the Professional Athletes of the NYC Football Club. This Physical Therapist will provide assessment and treatment for injured athletes working on the field and in the training facility. The PT should be skilled in sports injury assessment and rehabilitation and be comfortable working in a dynamic environment with a highly focused and dedicated team of professionals.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Complete thorough and accurate evaluation of athletic injuries, providing first aid and immediate care of acute injuries.

Develop, implement, and oversee appropriate rehabilitation and return to play programs for athletes.

Maintain proper documentation and record keeping of all athletic injuries, and related referrals and doctors’ notes.

Promote prevention of injuries through the recommendation of appropriate conditioning programs, monitoring environmental conditions and maintaining protective equipment.

Treat injuries using appropriate treatment modalities within the scope of the NYS Physical Therapy Practice act.

 

WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED:

 

Prior Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation experience.

Critically evaluate and analyze information in written materials.

Develop effective relationships with athletes, Medical Center departments, and other external parties.

Effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

Knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology and athletic training modalities at a level to efficiently and effectively evaluate and treat acute and chronic athletic injuries.

Maintain composure, even in very difficult situations.

Manage conflict and tactfully handle complaints and difficult situations.

Strong interpersonal communication skills.

Knowledge of terminology used in diagnosis and classification of illnesses, injuries, and disabilities.

Time management.

Work independently with minimal supervision.

 

EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Graduate of an Accredited Physical Therapy Program.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy is required, Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Valid New York State Physical Therapy License and Registration
  • Preferred APTA OCS, SCS and/or CSCS.
  • Minimum of three years of clinical experience in orthopedic/sports clinical practice setting.
  • Clinical Continuing Education focus in Orthopedic and Sports injury assessment and treatment is preferred.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment.
  • Work Schedule: Flexible Days and Hours, Weekend Coverage as needed.
