MEDICAL AUDIT ANALYST

Under general direction reviews and researches patient medical records in order to assign appropriate codes from diseases and procedure coding classifications such as ICD-10CM, CPT-4, etc. Identifies and documents sequence of events and diseases using appropriate coding classifications for the level of care received by the patient. In coordination with physician, nursing and other clinical staff, ensures that data is complete and supports codes assigned for optimal reimbursement, compliance with Federal, State and commercial insurance requirements. Abstracts pertinent clinical data from the record and enters into data repository for use in billing, research, education, planning and performance improvement. Abstracts records to meet Cancer Reporting requirements. Prepares necessary records and reports for other mandated State and Federal reporting.
Educational, Experience and License Requirements
Satisfactory combination of education/knowledge/experience in applying coding and grouping methodologies in a complex Healthcare environment.
Two(2) - three(3) years of related experience.
Certification as RRA, RHIT, CCS and or CCS-P or CTR preferred.
