We are seeking an EPIC Beaker Application Analyst to join our Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) team.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Install new applications, new components, and upgrade existing applications. Configure application settings
  • Provide go-live and rollout support
  • Interface with users/clients across the Montefiore Health System. Support users on new applications, modules, and functionality
  • Perform analysis of necessary application modifications and work with the appropriate Montefiore IT associates or the vendor to coordinate the modification
  • Determine how a new system, upgrade, or new component can best meet the needs of the users: 
    • Analyze business/clinical needs and requirements
    • Interpret end user requirements, by fully discussing potential options, and help client move towards optimal solution
    • Evaluate the operational workflow that is applied to the system
    • Create system specifications from user requirements
  • Create test plans and test new systems, version upgrades, and any system modifications
  • Document all outcomes of testing
  • Application implementation, troubleshooting, and support
  • Participate in technical integration and interface build
  • Write and maintain accurate and current documentation Participate in the maintenance of training materials and disseminate materials to users
  • Provide day-to-day operational support, advanced application troubleshooting support, coordinate modifications and updates, recommend improvements & increase efficiencies and provide pro-active monitoring
  • Provide 24 x 7 on-call coverage for user support on a rotating basis
  • On an as-needed basis, provide on-site support within the Montefiore Medical Center hospitals and/or its’ affiliates (on-site, rotational support)

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Medical Technologist, Health Informatics, or a related field. Experience will be considered in place of a degree
  • 2+ years of related clinical or IT experience
  • Certification in Epic Beaker CP and AP is ideal; however, strong consideration will be given to candidates that are not currently certified but can demonstrate ability to become certified.
  • Strong consideration will be given to candidates with significant lab experience and a demonstrated aptitude for IT.
  • Strong technical skills including Windows, UNIX
  • Application implementation, troubleshooting, testing, and support experience
  • Strong desktop skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
  • Technical understand of hardware, networking and servers
  • Knowledge of SDLC
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with customers, vendors, peers, and management
  • Eager to learn, exceptional listening skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentations skills
  • Excellent follow up skills, documentation skills and organizational skills
  • Must be adaptable in a rapidly changing environment with competing priorities
  • MEETING ALL REQUIREMENTS FOR EPIC CERTIFICATION IS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT

 

Desired:

  • EPIC Beaker CP certification
  • EPIC Beaker AP certification
  • Experience with LIS and/or the pathology industry, including clinical laboratories, microbiology, surgical pathology, cytology, and Blood Bank
  • Instrument interface knowledge
  • Experience with Point of care middleware applications such as Telcor, QML. NovaNet, RALS and UniPOC data management system
  • Prior experience with Data Innovations (DI)
  • Prior experience with full life cycle application/system implementations, troubleshooting, testing, and support
  • Understanding of HL7 and other health related standards
  • MT, PA or clinical experience is a plus
