The responsibilities of the Senior Clerk includes, but is not limited to cash collection and accounts receivable solution. This also includes verification of patient insurance coverage, updating both patient demographic and insurance information, communicating payers trends, claim logic, reimbursement and rejection trends as well as errors to management, phone interaction with both insurance carriers and patients and other third-party as needed.

Use of various billing systems such as hospital, physician billing and registration systems, Internet for provider information, websites for various insurance payers. Some use of word and excel and other related tasks


Education and skills required

  • High school diploma required, some college preferred
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in a physician billing setting
  • Experience in the epic PB billing system is required.
  • Independent, detail oriented individual with strong analytical skills.
  • Must have a good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have knowledge of health insurance reimbursement and billing requirements.
  • Must be familiar with HIPPA guidelines.
  • Must be able to apply policy and procedure to make independent decisions to secure reimbursement
